Here's a sampling of nouns and adjectives from the packaging: sick, twisted, sex, subversive, crazy, scatology, perverted, offensive, vulgar, bad, rude, digitally remastered... hey! How'd that get in there? If you quite like this sort of thing, you know who you are, and if you don't you'll stay away in droves (and will never know what you're missing). But for those who stay past the first blush of animated human genitalia, and the havoc wreaked thereon, there is much laughter in store. Not all the animation here in pushes the perverted envelope, but look in the hinterlands of sick and twisted for the ne plus ultra of scatology called "Deep Sympathy," and a stop-action epic called "Junky." Holding these 40 or so internationally made animated shorts together like a demented glue is a series of vignettes by celebrated animator Bill Plympton (The Tune), gathered under the rubric "Sex and Violence." Not to diminish Plympton's own not inconsiderable dementitude, but next to some of their neighbors Plympton's vignettes might be termed "cute." --Jim Gay

Mr. Ueno, retired, lives alone; he talks to Maria, a maid-droid his parents brought from their factory decades ago. Maria became Ueno's companion after his parents' deaths, and now her battery is run down; there are no replacement parts. Meanwhile, Inspector Akagi and her police squad are looking for a serial rapist that may not be human; however, if it's a robot, in harming people it would be disobeying Asimov's rules of robotics. Akagi's inquiry takes her to a droid factory run by Mr. X; he helps by explaining why host-droids, the male equivalent of a maid-droid, don't sell. What will Ueno and Akagi learn about love and the nature of men and women?

The film, set in the 1940's, kicks off by introducing the viewer to Alessandra (Lilli Carati), the spoiled trophy wife of military man Elio De Silveris (Al Cliver), who is about to return from his station in the jungle. Alessandra and Elio have an assistant, Wilma (Annie Belle), with whom Alessandra is secretly having a torrid lesbian affair. When Elio arrives, he has more than the standard trinkets and treasures to show his wife; he's also brought back Zerbal (Laura Gemser), who he won as a slave after saving her father's life. Alessandra claims aloud that she doesn't like the idea of having Zerbal around, but it becomes clear to Wilma that Zerbal has caught Alessandra's eye, and a bitter game of jealousy and infidelity begins to ensue.

When he discovers she is being threatened by a young punk connected with a gangster ring, he finds himself unable to hold back from stepping in to intervene. A psychotic drama with erotic overtones adapted from a novel by Seishu Hase, M covers Hiroki's familiar obsession with people who follow their fantasies to the outer limits.
